Dear traveler, this tour will not be available during the winter season. It’ll be available again after 15.04.2018 Early bookings can be made using our online reservation system. For all bookings made prior to 31.3.2018 we will give you Belgrade airport (train station/bus station)-Belgrade hotel transfer for free.
Do you remember all of those super breathtaking photos of Serbia with a river curving down the canyon with a eagle flying over it? Yes, this is it, the Canyon of river Uvac. With this tour we will take you there and you’ll be able to make ultimately fantastic photos on your own with experiencing much more.
On the morning of the tour we are starting from Belgrade early and we are heading west of Belgrade. After a two hour drive our first stop will be village Zlakusa famous for its pottery where old style hand production is nurtured for generations. We’ll visit one of the households which still produces pottery in the old fashioned way and maybe you’ll get a chance to try to make something on your own, who knows.
From Zlakusa we’ll start ascent to the slopes of Zlatibor Mountain where we’ll immerse into some more old lifestyle of the area, in the village Sirogojono we will visit the ethnological open-air museum Old village. This museum is unique in Serbia, and one of the few in Europe. Households in this setup were moved from original locations and those are 100% authentic. Another uniqueness of this village are 100% wool hand knitted products, which are knitted by local Sirogojno women for centuries.
After Sirogojno our drive continues through picturesque landscapes of Zlatibor which will definitely make you speechless. Our next brake is small village Ljubiš and guest house Pećinar where we’ll make a lunch stop, we’ll enjoy homemade food and warm hospitality of Pećinar family which is specializing their hospitality skills for six generations at the very same spot.
From Ljubiš we are switching to another mountain – Zlatar and after the lunch we will head to the south, going up to the 1200m above sea level, direction Zlatar Lake with making a few stops for enjoying the beautiful views of the Zlatar mountain and lake. At late afternoon we will arrive to our host in Vilovi village where you will check-in to authentic bungalows with beautiful view towards the Zlatar mountain. After a welcome drink and some time to recover from the long trip we could take a walk to the Zlatar Lake (8km both direction).
First day was reserved more for traditional lifestyle of Zlatibor Mountain, but the second day is all about outdoor activities and adventure in the nature. After early breakfast made by our host Miško and his family we’ll follow Miško in the direction of Uvac Special Nature Reserve where he will take us to the boat excursion along the canyon. Boat ride lasts around 5 hours (30 km from the dock to the Ice Cave and back). We will be able to see many griffon vultures at one hill where they pick the food which rangers provide to them. Normally, we will see many other birds during the excursion as well as nests of vultures on the high rocks. We will visit the Ice Cave with our host and guide, as well as one of the best view points above the Uvac meanders. Climbing up the hill is not too difficult but it is absolutely worth every burned calorie. After returning to the dock we will say good bye to our host and we will set off to the touristic center of Zlatibor for relaxation in vibrant cafes or for a stroll (if there is any energy left).
Arrival to Belgrade is in the early evening.
Journey plan given in this tour description is not fixed, it’s just result of our perception of most interesting points on this route and result of our own experience. In any moment we can alter the route and adjust it to interests and wishes of travellers.
